Baby Photographer Stockport
When booking a photographer, especially for a newborn session it is so important to find the right one. Yes it must be someone who has a style that you like, within a budget you can afford that is local enough for you to travel too in those early days. However, as more and more people are setting up businesses as photographers it is frightening how few actually have any real training in newborn safety and posing. So don’t be afraid to ask. This is your baby at the end of the day and you must feel reassured that you are picking the right person.
I am asked on a regular basis about what time frame is best to capture a baby. There is no right answer to this question. More and more people have been contacting me recently wanting to book in for a baby photo session but anxious that they may have left it too late. Although the ideal time frame for those newborn pictures is when baby is a matter of days old, that’s not to say it’s too late if your baby is weeks or months old. It’s never too late to capture your child and I would never want anyone to miss out on memories of their child. I had a lovely family who came for a session last month.
Elesha and Mike and their son Gabriel, and new daughter Eva. The whole family were amazing from start to finish and so relaxed throughout the session. Big brother Gabriel wowed me with how wonderful he was with his little sister and the images speak for themselves. I hope these will be treasured for years to come!
If you get chance I would love for you to check out my friend Emily’s blog. Emily is a photographer from Preston and is an absolute genius where Cake Smash Photography is concerned, but today she has blogged about Music Hobby Photography.
Baby Marvin | Newborn Baby and Family Photography in Stockport, Cheshire
This little man was an absolute gem! I loved him…and his mummy and daddy were pretty awesome too! I can tell already what great parents they are going to make! Having your first child can be such a shock to the system, the sleepless nights especially but they seemed to be taking it all in their stride and doing so well. They were clearly very proud of their new son, Marvin. It was so fun getting to know them during the session and passing on tips which I felt have helped me with both of my children. I love the power of two mummy’s minds together. There’s something about being a mum that connects you to all other mums. No matter who you are, or what you do, having such a huge role in common gives you such a greater understanding and mutual respect for one another. High Five to all you mums!!
So…little beautiful baby Marvin! Everything about him from his skin tone, to his perfect little mouth just made him a wonderful baby to photograph. He’s one of those babies that suits the black and white just as much as the colour!! The first part of the session he slept so well for and he just loved to be wrapped up all snug as a bug! I think my favourite image of him on his own has to be the second one down! Although I have to say, his mummy was very close to upstaging him. As soon as she walked into the studio I couldn’t believe how beautiful she was. Dressed in a long white dress, hair and make-up perfectly done. I think the images of her and Marvin reflect their love so well already and will definitely be images to treasure.
What do you think? I would love for you to share your thoughts in the comments below.

Children’s Photographer Cheadle, Stockport
As a Baby/Children’s and Family Photographer in Cheadle, Stockport I am really lucky to be able to meet so many local families. I was fortunate enough to photograph Hugo as a newborn when his parents brought him for a session, so to be able to photograph his progress is amazing! Another one of my fellow photography friends is Jenna from Jenna Marshall Photography. Jenna is a Newborn Baby and Family Photographer based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire and today has blogged about one of her recent sessions. Please take a look at her blog to see her beautiful work.
My favourite things about being a Newborn Photographer in Cheadle, Stockport
Here goes….
My 5 favourite things about being a Newborn and Baby Photographer in Cheadle, Stockport:
- The BABIES!!!! Number 1 has to be the babies. I love the babies! One of my new mum’s said today to me as she was in the studio with her twin girls….this job must make you broody! If I’m completely honest I now have my broodiness totally under control after having Lara just over a year ago. Two children are enough for me to cope with but during every session I can’t help but coo over the bundles of amazingness that I get to work with. They are perfect in every way. I love their tiny hands and tiny feet and little button noses…and the way they smack their lips when they are hungry. I could hold them forever! There really is nothing more precious in this whole world than a newly born baby, nothing!! When I am taking photographs I always pull the camera away and silently (or sometimes not so silently) gush at how ‘cute’ they look or how perfect their little faces and expressions are.
- The PARENTS. I am so lucky and blessed to have such lovely clients. I always feel so privileged that in the first few weeks after birth these wonderful families come to me and share their joy and pride with me. It’s so lovely during the newborn sessions to be able to chat with mums and dads about how they are finding things in this new chapter of their lives. I love how important my photographs are to these families and how this is such a wonderful thing to be able to do for them. I love that some families travel from further afield than Stockport because they have chosen ‘me’ as their photographer! #happydance
- The ability to be able to style a session with the help of my lovely mums and dads. This again I love!! I can’t explain to you how much preparation goes in to every single session I do. I will think about your session for days and days before it happens. I will consider the colours I will use, the props, the angles, the lighting, the wrapping, the accessories and the list goes on. I obsess! Each and every session I do is well planned for, and I often buy new props and accessories especially for that one photography shoot. Hence my reason for now being on a ‘prop-ban’….those newborn photographers out there reading this will know about all those ‘secret’ packages that arrive that must be hidden before the husband sees! Hopefully mine won’t read this and realise!!
So here are just 3 of many reason why I love being a newborn photographer. I really could go on…but must go and feed my hungry children! 🙂
Before I leave, please take a look at Rebecca Fitch Photography who is a newborn photographer in Gerrards Cross, South Bucks to see what happens after her sessions and how she produces her end products!
Things to do in Stockport this May half-term!
The school holidays are fast approaching so it’s time to start planning what to do with the kiddiwinkles! Many of the Stockport school primary schools have 2 weeks off so that’s a whole other week of fun filled exhaustion!!
I have tried to list some local activities as well as a few further afield for days when you are feeling brave! The list is obviously not exhaustive, these are just some ideas and finds. Any feedback on other activities that you know about locally then please let me know and I can add to the list!

What’s great about this vent is that there is loads to do for all ages including the older ones and the really little ones. You can get tickets on Groupon for this event too! Well worth a trip out!
Stockley Farm Park’s Half Term Farmathon, 26th May- 3rd June
With a different animal in the spotlight each day, there’s plenty to occupy the kids. You can bathe the pigs and reptiles, cheering on the goats and ducks in extra exciting races.

20% discount to families booking online using voucher code FAMMAY18.
The farm is open daily for half term from 10am- 5pm.
BEACHES
Ainsdale– this is my favourite beach. You can drive straight on to the beach and park up so there is no need to find a car parking spot then walk a mile with all your beach gear! There are plenty of sand dunes as well so you can find somewhere secluded if you so wish! (£5 to drive on the beach). 1 hours drive from Stockport.
Formby-for those of you that are National Trust members especially Formby is a great spot! Lovely picturesque beach and a forest area where you spot the red squirrels. Free parking for NT members.
New Brighton– I haven’t visited myself but it’s an hour drive from Stockport and comes recommended. There is free parking and great ice cream I am told! There is also a big pirate ship for the kids to climb and play on.
St. Anne’s-always a popular beach. Great beach, arcades to entertain and a mini train as well.
Crosby-this is another great find and home to Antony Gormley’s sculptures ‘Another Place’. It has been awarded the Quality Coast Award by Keep Britain Tidy. Great for dogs as well and you can have a good walk whilst there. There is also on-site parking.
PARKS
Bramhall Park, Bramhall is a favourite of ours. Great for a walk, a play in the playground and the cafe is great for a spot of lunch! You can also feed the ducks…although be careful of the geese as they often follow you!
Lyme Park, Disley. National Trust location so members can park for free. Always a great place to go for a nice or challenging walk or to play in the Adventure Playground. There are tea rooms as well to grab a bit to eat. This half-term they also have an event on called ‘The 50 things to do before you are 11 3/4 challenge’.
South Park, Cheadle Hulme is great if you are in walking distance and have an hour or two to kill. There is always the Pointing Dog next door if you need refreshments.
Dunham Massey, Altrincham is another great National Trust venue. Great place for den-making, for a walk or to ride the bikes. Plenty of deer to see as well! There are various things going on at half-term too. For more info click here.
Tatton Park, Knutsford is a lovely location for a picnic with friends. There is a great cafe there too if you don’t want to take a picnic, plus a huge playground and a farm for the kids. Click here for upcoming events at Tatton Park.
The Carrs, Wilmslow-another great park with a playground, river and great walk. Good place to take the bikes.
FARMS
As well as Stockley Farm and Cockfields other farms that come highly recommended include:
Smithhills Farm, Bolton and Reddish Vale Farm, Stockport.
ZOOS
Blackpool Zoo-I have been wanting to try Blackpool Zoo for ages. It comes so highly recommended and apparently there is a much better chance of seeing the big animals compared to Chester Zoo. There is also a farm section too which is great for the smaller ones, shows are on during the day and there is a dinosaur area for any Paleontologists amongst you! You can buy tickets here.
Chester Zoo-great day out for all! Lots of big enclosures for the animals and will take a full day to cover everywhere. Chester Zoo is better for the older kids as there is a lot more walking involved than Blackpool Zoo.
Knowsley Safari Park-contrary to popular belief a trip to Knowsley Safari Park doesn’t mean you will end up with a destroyed car! You can drive around the monkey enclosure. There is also a sea lion and bird of prey show. Normally they do a deal during school holidays but I haven’t found anything online yet to suggest they will be doing so keep a look out.
RANDOM
Trafford Golf Centre-near the Trafford Centre. We went here last holidays and spent a couple of hours smashing a few balls! I was actually not too bad if I do say so myself! Great for age 7ish plus! There is also an onsite Starbucks and if you get the right seat you can watch from the window. For more info the website is linked here.
Airport Pub-this is better than going to the Aviation Viewing Park as you can park up and don’t have to keep clock watching. Great place to grab a drink and something to eat and watch the planes coming in.
Crocky Trail, Cheshire Ice Cream Farm and Applejacks
Beaumaris-great for crabbing and having a mooch around. Plenty of ice cream parlours too!
A great facebook group for ideas on days out is Happy Days Out. I always check this page when I am looking for inspiration and it is full of people’s experiences and advice.
